Adam Leaves: Our Mission to Minimise Fashion Waste
At Adam Leaves, minimising waste isn't just a goal—it's woven into our very mission statement. We're dedicated to ethically producing beautiful, biodegradable clothing, actively working to divert fashion waste from landfills and championing a truly circular economy.
Our commitment begins even before a garment is made. We use sustainable cardboard and biodegradable packaging, ensuring our footprint is light from the moment you receive your order. When it comes to the "king of waste," CO2 emissions, we're equally rigorous: over 80% of our sourcing is local, often self-collected or consolidated with other shipments, drastically reducing transportation impact. For deliveries, we prioritise low-carbon-emission options whenever possible.
The biggest culprit in fashion waste is overstock. This is where our made-to-measure approach truly shines. By creating most products only as they're ordered, we eliminate excess inventory, ensuring nothing goes unworn and unloved into a landfill. We only stock limited essential fabrics and sizes, precisely what's needed.
Our environmental consciousness extends to our aesthetics. We exclusively use Eco-printing (botanical printing) or reactive digital printing, currently the most sustainable methods available, significantly reducing water and electricity consumption compared to conventional dyeing processes. Furthermore, nearly all our garments are crafted from natural fabrics. Hemp, for instance, requires virtually no pesticides and very little water to grow, while linen is renowned as one of the most sustainable fibres.
Ultimately, we believe the greatest waste in the garment industry is clothing sent to landfills. By focusing on longevity, mindful production, and inherent biodegradability, Adam Leaves is determined to reduce this monumental impact, offering fashion that's good for you and great for the Earth.
