Three Ways to Build a Bundle
The core you wrap the fabric around isn't just a mechanical choice — it changes the colour outcome.

Tying the Wooden Stick Method
Once the fabric and leaves are tightly rolled around the dowel, the same firm pressure used to press out air bubbles carries straight into the string-tying phase.
- The Anchor. Take the cotton string and tie a secure double knot around one end of the fabric roll, about an inch from the edge.
- The Spiral. Pull the string firmly and wrap it down the entire length of the bundle, spacing wraps evenly about 1 to 2 inches apart — pulled hard enough to indent the rolled fabric.
- The Crisscross. At the opposite end, pull tight and spiral the string back up to the top, crossing over the first set of wraps to form a tight "X" or diamond pattern across the whole bundle.
- The Lock. Tie the loose end securely to the original anchor knot. The finished bundle should feel almost entirely solid, like a rolling pin.
That tension is what separates a sharp, clean botanical print from a blurred one — it's a small, physical detail, but it's the difference the whole process depends on.
